Manually Correcting a Class II, and Adding Button Cutouts
Key Steps:
Assess the Situation:
Identify the Bolton discrepancy and determine the need for correction.
Check the width of the lateral incisors (<6.4 mm) to confirm the issue.
Modify Plan in 3D Controls:
Click on "Modify Plan" and access 3D controls for adjustments.
Placing Button Cutouts or Slits:
Preferably place button cutouts on the distal aspect of the tooth to prevent elastic slipping.
Attachments should be placed on the tooth to prevent unwanted movement.
For lower teeth, place buttons on the first molar. For upper teeth, choose between the canine or first premolar.
Consider placing button cutouts on lingual surfaces for crossbite correction if needed.
Ensuring Proper Occlusion:
Adjust the position of teeth to achieve even biting between premolars and molars.
Use the maintain function to lock teeth and create spacing if necessary for alignment.
Ensure a Class I molar and canine occlusion.
Building Up Teeth (if needed):
If laterals are smaller, create space around them for build-ups.
Discuss options with the patient for aesthetic improvements.
Instructions for Technicians:
Request sequential distalization on both sides, moving only two teeth at a time.
Start with the second molar, then move the first molar when 50% finished.
Progress to the second premolar only after the first and second molars are complete.
Move central and lateral incisors as a block unit.
Leave space around heavily rotated teeth to prevent friction.
Submission for Modification:
Once adjustments are made, submit the plan for modification.
Instructions to Technicians:
Please complete sequential distalization on both sides. Only move two teeth at a time. Begin with the second molar, then when it's 50% finished its movement, start moving the first molar. Only begin moving the second premolar when the second molar is finished moving. Complete this pattern of only moving two teeth at a time for all of the other teeth. The only exception is to move the central and lateral incisors as a block unit.
