Grafting before Treatment?
This is a patient with deep bite and a few area recession and 44 on cross bite, would you recommend getting grafting before treatment?

Schalk Answer:
When deciding whether to graft before or after orthodontic treatment, it's usually better to wait until after. The reason is that gum recession might get worse during treatment, so it's better to address all the recession issues once the teeth are finished moving.
One thing to check is if pulling the lip outwards towards the cheek reveals a buccal frenum attached to the area of recession. If this frenum is pulling on the gum, a frenectomy might be needed.
In addition to the buccal frenum, ensure that palatal root torque is also applied to the 23 as it may help put the root back into the bone and reduce the amount of recession.
